    Professional Development
    The Discovery Institute's ultimate goal is to improve students' academic achievement. Because students spend more than 1000 hours annually in classrooms with teachers, the Institute seeks to improve academic achievement primarily through the improvement of teaching.

    Basic Skills Development
    All Discovery Institute projects include organized efforts to develop basic skills, based on the tenet that success depends primarily on engaging the students' interest.
